In depth

Verdict

Hawridge King was just pipped over a shorter trip here last time out and can go one better over this longer trip, Nimra, Last Flight and Jockser could be the main dangers. This is the first time the selection has contested this trip on the flat but stayed on well over 14 furlongs to beat Squirtle at Haydock last month and it shouldn't be a problem. He was beaten by an unexposed type last time out and can bounce back to winng ways against this modest bunch. Last Flight is running well at present but does seem to prefer a bit of cut in the grounmd. Meanwhile Jockser returns from a fruitless spell over hurdles and so the main threat could come from Nimra who did win here over a slightly shorter trip in July. All in all a pretty weak handicap and Hawridge King has the best credentials and he gets the verdict.
