Verdict

Our shortlisted three here are Paddywack, Kennington and Blessed Place, with the selection being Kennington. Kennington comes into this race as a penalised recent winner, so is clearly in good heart. Having won off a mark of 65 on the all-weather (albeit in December 2005), and 65 on Turf (in August 2006), he is still arguably reasonably treated and, from a good draw, can go well. Paddywack is also well drawn and gets a mention, firstly, because he has won from today's mark on Turf and the all-weather within the last 12 months. A sign of recent revival could be gleaned from his latest start and he can build on that impression here. The draw has not been so kind for Blessed Place, who comes here as a recent Chester winner from an eight-pounds higher mark than he races from today. For us, his all-weather mark seems fair and, racing over five furlongs on the all-weather for the first time since December 2006, he could still go well. These are our key players, with Kennington selected.
