In depth

Verdict

Bond Cruz, Prince Victor and Santera all have appeal in this seller, and from that trio we'll select Bond Cruz. Dai Burchell's 5 year old won a handicap at Worcester recently over 2 miles, and should be OK on the ground, as long as there's not been too much rain. He has to defy top weight, even with Byron Moorcroft again claiming 7 pounds, but was lugging a fair bit around too when justifying favouritism at Worcester. Since then a mistake cost him at the same track but he did grab a place at Uttoxeter in a seller. Prince Vector looks to be getting the hang of hurdling, and this sort of race looks well within his capabilities. Santera did win a similar one in April but hasn't progressed from that. Others worthy of a look at include Kosciusko the mount of Tony McCoy and Pip's Assertive Way, a course and distance winner in better company last year. But our selection is Bond Cruz.
