A maximum turnout for the finale and several "characters" taking part, none more so than My Retreat, who after a promising juvenile career has been somewhat disappointing. Rated 82 at best, he has now slipped down to just 48, some 34lbs lower. He hasn't got the best of draws, but one thing in his favour is he has an in-form apprentice doing the steering and if on a going day would be more than good enough to see this lot off. He is a rather tentative choice in an open contest. Recent course winner Boisdale is sure to be a popular choice, but consistency isn't his middle name and he will be too short a price to get involved with. Teehee, who hails from a stable that is beginning to find its form, has several decent efforts of late to be worthy of consideration at this level, while other "characters" who could run well, if the mood takes them, include old timers Malia, the winner of 16 races, three of the here and Marengo, the winner of 12 races, eight of them at this venue.
