In depth

Verdict

Quite a competitive opener and in recent races run on the straight course the centre of the course has proved the place to be, so the middle to low numbers could prove to have the edge which brings the likes of Robwillcall, Bahamian Belle and Vanished to the fore and a chance is taken with the latter, who has form here and has slipped down the handicap. Kevin Ryan's filly has been somewhat disappointing this term, but there are excuses as she would have needed her first outing of the season and then she was all at sea on the heavy ground at Haydock on her latest effort, Sandwiched between those efforts was a solid run behind Blakeshall Quest, having cut out much of the running. She failed to get home that day, so there is every reason to believe a return to the minimum will be in her favour. Robwillcall bounced back to form at Musselburgh last time, but she has yet to prove herself on this surface and is probably best watched on this occasion, while the maiden Bahamian Belle did show a little bit of promise on her only outing here on her seasonal debut and hasn't been disgraced in better contests since then. A return to this surface is in her favour and she must go well. Handicap debutante Zolube is closely matched with Bahamian Belle on Doncaster running and is open to some improvement. She is out of an American bred mare, so she should be at home on this surface and is definitely worthy of consideration, but Vanished sets a fair standard and is the one to beat.
