April Fool can prevail at the expense of Magroom, Palmetto Point and Gifted Heir, with Hot Property not completely out of it. After finishing fourth to Tetouan at Leicester on his return to action in April, it looked only a matter of time before April Fool came good. However, he was a flop at Windsor on his next engagement, but ran much better in a first-time visor on the Turf course at Lingfield a fortnight ago, finishing third to Sun Of The Sea. Magroom has been plying his trade at Brighton of late, and joined Ron Hodges after landing a seller there at the start of June. He has looked one-paced in two runs over seven furlongs for his new stable, and the combination of a step up in trip and the booking of Richard Hughes is very encouraging. Palmetto Point improved for the application of cheekpieces at Warwick, but was not allowed to dominate behind April Fool at Lingfield next time, and in any case meets the selection on worse terms. Gifted Heir was just touched off in a Lingfield claimer last time, while Hot Property is best watched on his handicap debut. April Fool gets the vote.
