In depth

Verdict

Red Top can put last week's Royal Ascot defeat behind her to open her account at the expense of Khafayif and other highly thought of newcomers Gay Romance and Tetcott. Red Top posted a really commendable effort behind Celtic Heroine in Listed company at the Royal meeting last week. She lined up six pound 'wrong' in the weights and had to come right round the outside of the field to deliver her challenge, eventually finishing seventh. The drop back in trip and the fact that she can race off level weights augurs well for her chance of gaining a deserved victory. With Godolphin in great form now, Alqwah has to be respected on her debut, but being related to middle-distance winner Mystic Lady, that may be where her future lies. Tetcott on the other hand is quite speedily-bred and may give a bold showing. Gay Romance gets a good word in dispatches as well. She is a half-sister to three winners including the useful Hawksley Hill, while Henry Candy is double-handed with Anna Panna and Ela Papourana. The latter is the more experienced but might find this on the short side. All in all, Red Top looks the one to be on.
