In depth

Verdict

Alhaitham is unlucky to be still eligible to race in this grade but can put the record straight if everything goes well for him today, O'Tara and Zamhear are forwarded as the main obstacles in his way this afternoon. The last named makes her belated debut at a modest level and, as a half-sister to the useful Blue Monday, it will be a bit disappointing for her connections if she is not good enough to pay her way before too long. However, there has to be the suspicion that she will benefit greatly from this experience and she is one to bear in mind for future reference. O'Tara has done little wrong in four previous starts and is yet to finish out of the money. However, he doesn't appear to be the most straightforward of rides and Neil Callan will have earned his riding fee if he can work the oracle aboard this son of Danehill. Therefore, we prefer to stick with Alhaitham, who looked all over the winner until the saddle slipped during his latest start and is fancied to make amends in this ordinary looking contest.
