    Verdict

Many are these are closely matched on official ratings, the possible fly in the ointment being the Gerard Butler-trained Huwaidah. The filly has raced over no further than seven furlongs in three runs to date and has scope for improvement at this longer trip. As such, she gets the vote in a race where the market could provide a good guide. Gifted Flame, especially with his rider taking a useful three pounds off his back, is weighted to go well, a similar comment applying to New Prospective. The last-named has been winning at the new Spanish track in Mijas so it will be interesting to see how he goes. Portacasa, who likes Beverley as a track, looked to be coming to hand last time but is seven pounds higher than for her last win. However, she cannot be ruled out. The Cute Won, a winner in Ireland, showed little for new connections on his first run in England but might be capable of better. Melodian has won from a higher mark - on soft going - but has never won at beyond a mile. Hormuz, back on a winning mark, could represent the danger to the selection. Gifted Flame is not the easiest ride and doubts also exist about him at this trip, while Escalade has yet to win beyond a mile but certainly has chances on his best form if ten furlongs proves suitable. Cripsey Brook has won over this trip but that was in a Redcar seller.
