In depth

Verdict

Over the past 20 years, Dermot Weld and Aidan O'Brien have shared half the winners and the pair's entries are likely to dominate the betting for this season's renewal. Falkirk cost 500,000 euros and is by Montjeu out of the Group 2 winner Jewel In The Sand. He's a half-brother to two 5f winners but stamina will probably be his game as he hasn't been stopping in two runs over 1m1f. The filly Massinga made a very pleasing debut at Roscommon in June and though that didn't look the strongest of maidens she'll have come on a bundle for the experience. However, John Oxx can spoil the party with AWESOME STAR, who caught the eye in no uncertain terms on his debut behind Sea The Lion at the Curragh and can make enough progress to take this. Jim Bolger's newcomer Ring Chief is a full-brother to Teochris so should have no problems with the trip.
