      Verdict

Firework has been in the form of his life of late and is the obvious selection to make it four out of his last five starts with the Milton Bradley-trained duo of General Smith and Toppling looking the main dangers. The last mentioned took advantage of a favourable draw when winning at Nottingham in June and has struggled off his new mark in three starts since. Stablemate General Smith has been holding his form well since successful at Lingfield and has to be respected but we prefer to side with Firework. John Akehurst's gelding could hardly be in better form at present and, having won two sellers in June, won his latest start in handicap-company when running out a good winner over six furlongs at Lingfield last time. The drop in trip will not inconvenience the five-year-old, who has conditions to suit and is taken to defy a 5lb rise in the weights. Flapdoodle and Tuscan Flyer both showed signs of a return to form last time and are others to consider along with another Milton Bradley-trained inmate Mutasawwar but, in his current form, Firework is the logical choice.
