Verdict

A really competitive looking renewal of this staying handicap with plenty of the 15 runners having claims including the top weight Tom Paddington and Martin Pipe's Don Fernando but the vote goes to the latter's stable companion Sindapour, who looks to be ahead of the handicapper. Tom Paddington is still lightly raced at the age of eight and has to be respected over a trip that should be more suitable for him having run over shorter on his two previous starts this term. Towards the other end of the handicap, Kahyasi Princess showed improved for being stepped up to this distance at Haydock last time and with Mark Johnston's horses maintaining their form well he is another to consider despite the 4lb penalty. Opportune has been kept busy of late and is another to consider back over his right trip but it will take a good one to beat Sindapour. The son of Priolo holds Don Fernando and Decisive on running in the Ascot Stakes last time and an 8lb rise may not be enough to prevent a horse, who still looks to be ahead of the handicapper, from winning again.
