Verdict

Dan Dare will be a popular choice here to beat the likes of New Guinea, Prowess and Spell Casting. Connections have long had an high opinion of Dan Dare who was a promising third at Newmarket on his reappearance. A half-brother to Flemensfirth, he will improve for both the step up in trip and return to faster ground, and can vindicate the faith held in him. He is definitely one to note when going handicapping but should lose his maiden tag today. His main rival may well turn out to be New Guinea who did not get the best of luck in running at Sandown when trying to rally after being headed. Prowess was well beaten in the Oaks and obviously this is a drop in class for the Barry Hills filly, but she will not have an easy task against some up-and-coming colts, while of the rest, Spell Casting is worth a mention at least but has it to do on the bare form. All in all, the stage looks set for Dan Dare to provide Sir Michael Stoute with another York winner.
