Verdict

Master Carpenter is 2lb lower than when taking this last year but the going will be much quicker this time around. Erik The Red was only ninth last year and is still looking a few pounds too high while Thundering Blue may still be paying the price for last year’s exploits, though did finish ahead of Contrast at Epsom last month. Mon Beau Visage could be interesting off bottom weight but a step up in class and quicker ground may count against Wetherby winner Titus. We’ll take a chance on VALCARTIER as he wasn’t given a hard time behind better-fancied stablemate Leader’s Legacy at Wolverhampton. Soft going was a legitimate excuse for a poor run at Newmarket last summer and he remains unexposed. Banditry and Kings Gift may be best of the rest.
