Verdict

Big things were expected of Tax Break, who shaped with a lot of promise on his only start for Mark Johnston in a Nottingham maiden in October. But he was sold cheaply at the Doncaster sales the following month and might need this. Johnston takes him on here with CROWN COUNSEL, who is a half-brother to several winners including the useful Metaphoric and has an overall pedigree which suggests he'll thrive on the all-weather. The newcomer is preferred to Lennoxwood, who was beaten nine lengths when second over 6f here on his introduction, and last month's C&D third Kentish.
