In depth

Verdict

THE WILY WOODCOCK is put forward as the pick in this maiden; Roses and Rambling Dancer look the best of the alternatives. The selection was having his first run for his new yard last time and he wasn't beaten far when third behind Templetuohy Max. The stable do well with this type of horse and further progress will make him hard to beat. Rambling Dancer has got some decent form in Ireland and it will be interesting to see if he is the subject of any market support on his debut here. The market could also prove a useful guide to the chance of Alan Swinbank's newcomer Roses. Tom Dascombe's yard are going well and Brouhaha has shown enough promise on the turf to make him of interest. But this does look a good opportunity for The Wily Woodcock who is selected to open his account.
