Verdict

VALATRIX is narrowly preferred here to the consistent mare Jord. Chris Wall has a good record at the track and his returning filly has a good chance of further enhancing it. She signed off last season with a midfield finish in a competitive Ascot sprint and she should not be underestimated today. Her runs at Lingfield last season would suggest that this artificial surface will pose no problems and this Acclamation filly will not mind the return to this trip either. Princess Valerina has been in good form of late, most recently with a course and distance success just four days ago. She has a penalty for that success which makes life tough despite her good jockey's claim. Catalan Bay has been given a mini break since her last run at the track and she steps down in trip here, whilst Miss Daawe steps up a furlong. Jord is a consistent mare and she should not be underestimated; she continues to edge up the handicap but as the most consistent in the race there is good reason for that. Valatrix is narrowly preferred in a tricky race for fillies and mares.
