In depth

Verdict

Desert Dreamer has solid claims at the weights and has to be respected under ground conditions that suit perfectly well but preference is for Just James, who gets the vote ahead of Grimes Faith. The selection has been highly tried of late and should appreciate this drop in class and the underfoot conditions so the David Nicholls-trained gelding is taken to resume winning ways. Stablemate Funfair Wane has failed to trouble the judge since landing the 2004 Ayr Gold Cup but, like the selection, has performed creditably since then and also handles cut in the ground. He has more to do judged by official BHB ratings, while both Outer Hebrides and Bollywood are difficult to recommend on recent efforts and at the weights. Grimes Faith holds more solid claims at the weights but may prefer a faster surface and preference is for Just James who is taken to resume winning ways.
