In depth

Verdict

Soonest is just preferred in this decent juvenile contest, ahead of Crafty Fancy, Shank On Fourteen and Under My Spell. Richard Hannon's colt showed plenty of encouragement when second to a well-regarded sort at Newmarket on his debut, and followed that up with a convincing win at Bath. He possesses plenty of scope, and is just preferred in what looks like a very competitve race. Crafty Fancy won nicely over course and distance on her second start and handles this surface so is clearly a danger, along with Shank On Fourteen, who has improved with every run so far and hails from the Karl Burke stable who has a crop of particularly speedy juveniles this season. Of the rest, Chester third Under My Spell should be thereabouts under Pat Eddery, and is just preferred to the relatively exposed Mac Love and Pontefract scorer Russian Valour.
