In depth

Verdict

Fadael gets the vote in this run-of-the-mill affair, with Blaise Hollow, Hawridge King and, possibly, Gibraltar Bay looking like her biggest dangers. The selection clearly appreciated the step up to seven furlongs when staying on at Yarmouth last time, having debuted at five. A further step up might well suit, and in what is not a strong race, she looks to hold a solid chance. Blaise Hollow was fifth in what was probably a better event at Lingfield last time, Lithos has plenty to like on breeding, and Cross My Shadow catches the eye because he is a Cape Cross half-brother to the high-class hurdler Holy Orders. Hawridge King left the impression on his last run that he already needs a mile, and we expect a bold show from him too, while the unraced Maktu attracts interest because he is from Paul Cole's stable, although he cost only 4,000 guineas. Gibraltar Bay is likely to be shown in a much better light today than he was on his debut but, overall, the selection is Fadael.
