Verdict

The second race on the card can go to Avesomeofthat, with his biggest dangers suggested as Fu Fighter, Tarania and Zouave. This does not looks a particularly strong race but Avesomeofthat, although he showed some promise on the Flat, ran very promisingly at Newton Abbot on his hurdling debut. Normal improvement on that could well see him land a small race, and he looks set to go well here today. Fu Fighter has shown Flat form between 11 and 18 furlongs on the Flat, earning a rating in the low 70s in the process, so he is entitled to some consideration. Taranai has already won his novice event but has been beaten under a penalty since. He is nothing out of the ordinary but, as this is only a run-of-the-mill contest, he wouldn't have to be to play some sort of part. Zouave is one to keep an eye on in the betting as he showed promise at a reasonable level for Brian Meehan last season before his form tailed off. Ask The Driver has shown promise at up to a mile on the Flat, Cornish Orchid has interesting Flat breeding but never ran in that sphere, while Garnett is a half-brother to a winning hurdler but will have to build on his modest Flat form over hurdles. It is hard to build a compelling case for the others so, once again, this contest can go to Avesomeofthat.
