In depth

Verdict

An 11lb rise for his win over course and distance at the end of March for Micky Hammond's Dawn Ride seemed harsh and the gelding not surprisingly struggled off his revised mark at Market Rasen last time so off the same mark today, he looks worth taking on with PALMERS PEAK who is preferred to Keltic Lord. Peter Hiatt's gelding has not won for some time but the 13-year-old has been running well in defeat of late and he has to be strongly considered. Don McCain's Our Jim was going well before unseating his rider at Kelso last time and has claims off what looks a fair mark. Cool Cliche looks to be well treated now but is hard to back on recent form and of more interest may be Brendan Powell's Mandingo Chief, who won well here last month and he has solid claims off just an 8lb higher mark today. Preference though is for Martin Keighley's Palmers Peak, who won well over shorter here last time but he should appreciate the longer trip and can defy the rise in the weights.
