Verdict

Northern Friend drops to this grade for only the second time, and can improve at the trip and land the card's seller. By a sprinter but imbued with stamina on his dam's side, the opposition is not strong so this will not take a lot of winning. Best of the rest might be Bar Of Silver and Kohima. Bar Of Silver stuck on well at Brighton last time over a mile, and it will be interesting to see how he copes with this 11-furlong trip. The lightly raced Kohima is also stepping up in trip, which could well bring about improvement. A repeat of Golden Fields' fourth to Bally Hall at Nottingham in April would see her competitive, but she has disappointed since, including in a visor. Overall, then, in a modest event, Northern Friend gets the vote.
