Verdict

The David Loder-trained Dramaticus catches the eye here ahead of Earl Of Links, Ninah's Boy and Harvest Warrior. The selection is a fairly well-related son of Indian Ridge who was bought in for 60,000 guineas as a yearling. His dam, who is by Turtle Island, finished second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and, much as the betting will provide a big clue as to how good he is, we are prepared to take the chance that he'll be good enough to score at the first time of asking. Following his debut third behind good subsequent scorer Prince Charming at Kempton, Earl Of Links rates an obvious danger. There is, however, plenty of stamina on the dam's side of his pedigree and, unless the going is really testing, he might find that the selection has too much toe for him. Ninah's Boy showed promise despite running green here on her debut and should improve, although she'll have to, while Tim Easterby runs his 23,000 guineas purchase, Harvest Warrior, and the other pair in the race are not without chances if breeding is anything to go by. Overall, though, we like the look of Dramaticus.
