In depth

Verdict

Recent form suggests Trusted Mole is the one to beat and is selected in preference to Great View and Saxe Coburg, who both have sound claims to fill the frame in a race of this nature. Whereas Skylarker is an honest sort that should also be accommodating to the skills of Les Jefford, who will be wise to any weaknesses in the game-plans of the lesser experienced jockeys today. It will be no surprise to see Jefford's mount tow them along for a long way and he too will be hard to keep out of the frame. However, this could be set up for a finisher like Trusted Mole, who already has the measure of Saxe Coburg if they both run up to the same level of their recent encounter over course and distance. Unpenalised for that win, Trusted Mole is very hard to ignore off the same mark; especially when his rider's 5lb claim is factored in. Great View is a regular in traces of this nature but is now 7lb higher in the weights than his last winning mark and will need to be at his very best to get past Trusted Mole in the finale.
