Verdict

This presents Godsend with a straightforward opening if he can cope with the challenges of the likes of Bold Minstrel, Anfield Dream and Next Time, who are expected to put up the most resistance out of the rest. The last named has a little to prove though after going the wrong way after an encouraging start at Doncaster and now looks to be one for the brave only. Whereas Anfield Dream could have more to offer as he ran a decent race without being asked too many questions on debut and shaped as if there are races to be won with him. However, like Bold Minstrel, he lacked the obvious sparkle shown by Godsend when he made his bow at Windsor in May and is taken on with Richard Hannon's charge this afternoon. The daughter of Royal Applause ran very green during her first start and was only getting the hang of things when the race was all but over. The experience will have done her the power of god though and Godsend is expected to be a different proposition this time around.
