In depth

Verdict

Valid Point is scheduled to make a swift reappearance after scoring at Towcester on Thursday but Jim Old's five-year-old was all out to win at the Northamptonshire circuit and is surely worth opposing under a 7lb penalty. Beau Lake won twice at Plumpton last month and has every chance of completing his hat-trick, despite a further 7lb rise in the weights, but the booking of AP McCoy for SPEED DATING really catches the eye in this. John Quinn's gelding, a four times winner on the Flat, has been highly tried in novice company over timber so far and may have got in lightly on his handicap debut off a mark of 104. Lesenda, runner-up at Catterick 10 days ago, may be the pick of the remainder.
