Verdict

Baywing turned a Grade 2 into a procession at Wetherby six weeks ago and the placed horses both ran well at Cheltenham earlier this week. But he was behind Hainan and Crosspark at the same track earlier. AMERICAN by-passed The Festival to carry top weight in this so Harry Fry must believe his welter burden won’t be a problem. Noel Fehily rides the seven-year-old, who has won both starts over the larger obstacles and beaten decent opposition easily in the process. Rock The Kasbah beat a subsequent winner at Chepstow last month but Wild West Wind was quickly left behind when chasing a hat-trick at Exeter and may have been reeled in by the handicapper. Newtown Lad has won around here and returned to form at Ayr last time. This is a big step up but his stable is in great form.
