In depth

Verdict

The Bar Maid should make a bold bid to repeat her recent course win and is taken to do so over Janbre, Alfa Sunrise and Monsieur George. The selection is no stranger to this testing track and was making her fifth appearance here when finally opening her account 18 days ago. Granted, she did not beat much but is reported to have strengthened up a lot this year, and with conditions once again in her favour, will prove hard to beat despite a rise in the weights. Janbre stayed on well behind Mr Cospector at Uttoxeter and can provide the main danger ahead of Monsieur George, a place behind him at the Midlands track on what was only his second British start since coming over from France. The latter will improve though and should be kept in mind for a handicap. Alfa Sunrise will need this first run since falling at Chepstow in March, but was a progressive sort prior to that. Rosadare is the dark horse as he had winning form in Ireland, and if anywhere near fit can make his presence felt. Nigel Twiston-Davies won this 12 months ago with Petite Margot but Two Huge has a long absence to overcome. With fitness a key factor, The Bar Maid can follow up.
