Verdict

Runaway Bishop is running into form and gets the nod over Phar City, with Gus Des Bois worth a mention as well. Runaway Bishop ended last season on a roll, winning his last three races, including two here. He has abundant stamina and that will stand him in good stead as he bids to go one better than when second to The Merry Mason at Market Rasen. That first run since May should have blown away the cobwebs and John Cornwall's nine-year-old is the one to beat. Phar City has to give him weight and that will be no easy task in this ground, but he stuck to his task when last seen at Newton Abbot in May so should at least give a good account. Gus Des Bois shaped well behind Palouse at Wincanton but it is hard to fancy him and for the winner we return to Runaway Bishop.
