Alan King returns for this renewal after taking the race last year and it's his charge BRUKIRK LASS who gets the verdict over If You Knew Suzy and Penny Queen. Any newcomer from King's stable has to be respected and this filly has the potential in her breeding to go well. She is the daughter of the more than useful Kirkwall, who won Graded and Listed contests on the flat. The market will tell us all how much this is fancied to score but all the signs are good for the trainer to land the event for a second year running. One who definitely has to be considered is If You Knew Suzy, who unlike the rest of this field has already seen a racecourse when third in a similar contest at Kelso last time. She emptied quickly on that occasion after running well early on so she won't want the ground with any more cut in it than good to soft. Paul Webber's Penny Queen is another in the race with plenty of pedigree. Plenty of winners in her relations with her half sister winning on both the flat and over obstacles but breeding suggests the ground may need to be quicker for her to score. As a sister to a bumper winner Masie's Choice also has claims while Seamus Mullins brings Free Dance Date to proceedings whose dam was only a fair two mile hurdler but could be one for an each-way bet at a bigger price. Brukirk Lass though is the choice here.
