In depth

Verdict

Medison can open his account on these shores, with Latin Queen and Adjami others worth a mention. Medison was successful on the Flat in France last year and so it was disappointing to see him run so badly on his debut over hurdles at Haydock in November. However the very soft ground may have been a contributing factor that day as he subsequently shaped much better when third at Newbury next time. That was a class B event and so this drop in grade should ensure that Martin Pipe's charge makes a bold bid to atone. Rood Boy caused a bit of a shock when opening his account at Wincanton two weeks ago, when a positive ride by Paddy Brennan had the desired effect. The proximity of a 100-1 shot in second does not read well, but he had the likes of Dunlea Dancer and Nanga Parbat in arrears. With that in mind he can give the selection most to do. Latin Queen has more experience and may appreciate the drop back in trip after running out of steam here last time, while Adjami is held by Rood Boy on Wincanton running. Preference is for Medison.
