In depth

Verdict

Today's The Day is becoming rather expensive to follow and the Michael Jarvis-trained filly may again have to settle for minor honours with preference for the American-bred HOLBERG, who gets the verdict ahead of Mullitovermaurice. James Given's gelding ran better than was expected on his debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month and he would have every chance if able to build on that effort. Jim Boyle's Confucius Captain has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated and he looks best watched at present. Bryan Smart's Net Value has been well held in both starts so far and of more interest may be David Barron's newcomer Dante Deo, who is bred to handle the surface and any market support for him would have to be noted. Preference though is for Mark Johnston's Holberg who also has an American dirt pedigree and he may improve for racing on the Fibresand for the first time.
