In the Novices' Hurdle the vote goes to Astronomic ahead of Spring Gamble, Dolmur and Low Cloud. Spring Gamble has shown promise in similar races and will probably appreciate dropping back in trip today than for when running at Hexham last time. Sandy Bay's Hexham effort last time over hurdles was promising and Pearson Glen has shown enough on the Flat to suggest that he can go well at this level if taking to this game. Dolmur was second in a Wexford maiden hurdle in March, and a repeat of that level of form makes him very competitive, but Dark Cut's form since winning at Hamilton in May 2003 has a regressive look to it. Low Cloud won over course and distance on his hurdling bow and, much as he was then unplaced at Haydock, this looks to be more his level. This brings us back to Astronomic. A Maisons-Laffitte winner in October 2003 when with Andre Fabre, if he has retained anywhere near that type of ability then he looks the one to beat here and, accordingly, gets the vote.
