      Verdict

An open nursery where plenty come into the race with claims of one sort or another - Rabitatit having the most obvious after a smooth success in a similar contest at Bath last time out. However, that performance is open to scrutiny and there has to be a suspicion that she may have been flattered to master the 74-rated Kawakib so easily near the finish. Therefore a chance is taken with Dry Wit, who steps into handicap company for the first time today. The Desert Prince filly would not have too much to find with the likely market leader on a literal reading of the form of her latest effort at Thirsk and a repeat dose will see her go close today. It is also worth bearing in mind that she only finished two lengths adrift of Ticker Tape on her debut and that form was significantly boosted in a much better race than this at Doncaster last week. Veverka and Mustang Ali are other that should be capable of at least filling a place - whereas it will take a good effort from Resplendent King to defy top weight today. The booking of the in-form John Egan is also a big plus for Dry Wit and the partnership marginally have the soundest claims for success in wide-open contest.
