      Verdict

Drying ground would help OPERA GAL get her act together and this one-time Fillies' Mile entry just edges preference ahead of Thrill and Shimmering Moment. The last named made a respectable start for Henry Cecil on the all-weather at Lingfield in August - finding things happening a touch too quickly over an inadequate six furlongs. Like the selection she had exalted entries at one stage and will need to start improving quickly to justify the lofty price tag from when she went through the sales ring. Cecil's charge may simply need more time, though. She looks more of work in progress and is a long-term prospect. Thrill showed up well in a maiden won by a Godolphin 'hotpot' at Kempton three weeks ago; the form of which took a slight knock last week at Leicester. Still, John Gosden is a masterful trainer of this type of animal, so the daughter of Pivotal has to merit a second look in the betting. However, the form of Opera Gal's latest start received a much more encouraging boost last Friday and, assuming the ground doesn't deteriorate into a bog, Andrew Balding's filly looks to have been found a good opportunity to launch a solid attack today.
