In depth

Verdict

Wee Charlie Castle may prove to be the answer, with Savannah Pride, Young Flavio and Ten Commandments just three more with claims. A large turnout of claimers makes this a tricky affair, but Wee Charlie Castle has shaped with promise on more than one occasion, having been placed twice in better company, including when second to the hot favourite Pickett in a Hamilton nursery. That piece of form suggests that Mick Channon's charge is one of the more likely contenders, and he is the selection. Savannah Pride hails from a stable that always finds an opening for its juveniles, even if they have to be dropped to this level, so she has to be respected as well. Young Flavio has already been successful this season, but that was in selling grade. A little bit of improvement can see him involved in the finish, while Ten Commandments got upset in the stalls before her Brighton maiden debut, and could be a bit better than claiming class in time. Bets are best kept on the small side, but Wee Charlie Castle is the pick.
