Verdict

Live Fast gets a tentative vote over Racer Forever, with Doctor Dash and newcomer Dublin Dice put forward as possible dangers. Live Fast was thought good enough to be sent off as favourite on his debut at Ripon in June, but found one too good in Observatory Star. The latter has since been found out in better company, but the selection again shaped with promise when just touched off at Newmarket next time and deserves to go one better. Racer Forever holds a host of big-race entries and both outings have been on rain-softened ground so far. It remains to be seen how John Gosden's charge will handle the faster conditions here, but if doing so he will be a big threat. Doctor Dash stayed on well from the rear on his Newbury bow, but the suspicion is that he would be better suited by an extra furlong, while Dublin Dice could be useful but is best watched unless the market speaks in his favour. In what may turn out to be an informative affair, we return to Live Fast as the answer.
