Verdict

Rio Riva gets the nod here ahead of My Paris in what could be a two-horse race. Julie Camacho's improving five-year-old did the best of those to come from out of the pack in the Lincoln in March and is ultra consistent. Cut underfoot suits very well and he could defy this highest mark of 100 and go on to more valuable handicaps this season. He is one from one at this course and looks a good bet today. St Andrews looks too high in the handicap whilst despite being out of the handicap, Prince Samos is still well handicapped on old form and first time blinkers could spark a revival today. The main danger looks to be recent winner My Paris. Kevin Ryan's gelding hung on well at Thirsk a fortnight ago but is better on quicker ground and may just set the race up for the selection. Granston is one to consider, but Rio Riva gets the confident vote.
