Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

This can finally be the day for Blue Maeve to add to his tally. Dancing Deano, Linda Green and Banjo Bay are very much respected as dangers, while it will be foolhardy to rule out a big run from Golden Asha, who is a rare runner at the course for Neville Callaghan. The booking of Jamie Spencer suggests that the Newmarket-based handler means business with Golden Asha, who caused a big upset when defeating the 98-rated Spirit Of Chester at Brighton in July. This lightly raced filly is a consistent type that is worth putting in as a saver option if the odds are not too restricting. Banjo Bay ended a long losing run when scoring in a lads race at Nottingham in May. He is a likely candidate to cut out the running but his knack of setting things up for a strong finisher has to be a concern. Linda Green is another that has enjoyed a profitable campaign and is thriving on being kept busy. However, she has looked held off this sort of mark recently and needs to pull something more out of the fire. Dancing Deano is less exposed than many and is versatile regarding his best ground. He shaped as if he is on the way back with a solid effort at Haydock at the start of this month and can make his presence felt with a similar performance. However, preference goes to Blue Maeve, who has performed with credit when taking on stiffer opposition in his last few starts. This looks an easier assignment for the selection and, as he is one of only a handful that is in truly good heart, Blue Maeve just gets the nod.
