        Verdict

        Retro Valley finally got off the mark when returning a shock 25/1 winner at Bath last week. This looks no tougher and he should go well again but the less-exposed MON GRIS is preferred. The latter posted his best effort to date when third at Wetherby, despite being badly hampered, and a bold bid is expected here. Vixen Hill was dropped 9lb after four modest efforts in maidens but it looks as though the handicapper got it right as she has yet to threaten in handicaps while Ingleby Hollow, The Name's Bond and Ellerina are others needing a big improvement if they are to figure.
