In depth

Verdict

Opening Ceremony, Summer Shades and Pinching have all been knocking on the door this season and we will take a chance here on the last named. Henry Cecil's filly has progressed with each outing culminating in a second to Diamond Lodge at Windsor in May. The winner has subsequently gone in again so the form does look rock solid. Open Ceremony was successful here last season and looked to be coming back to her best when a close up fourth behind Kingsdon at Newcastle last time. Summer Shades has run consistently well in handicaps this term and on official ratings has to be feared. Rifleman is another to consider if returning to his best, but Pinching has more scope for improvement and gets our vote.
