In depth

Verdict

A typically open sprint handicap and the vote goes to Peyto Princess over a host of dangers including My American Beauty, Roses Of Spring, Midnight Special and Columbine. The Mark Buckley-trained Peyto Princess is on a long losing sequence but has become well handicapped as a result and showed signs of a return to form on her seasonal reappearance when third at Folkestone. My American Beauty was a consistent performer last season, winning on three occasions, and ran promisingly on her recent return but may be in the handicapper's grip at present and could struggle under top weight. Roses Of Spring is on a fair mark and has nothing to fear from My American Beauty after a close fourth at Thirsk last time. Robert Cowell's mare has to be on the short list while Midnight Special was below her best last time but has claims on her earlier victory at Thirsk while Columbine comes here in excellent heart and should give another good account in a tricky event.
