Verdict

None of the runners really jump off the page in this amateur riders' race but PENNFIELD PIRATE is at least on form and with scope for improvement gets the call. An easy winner two starts ago the Hughie Morrison gelding was only just held on his follow-up bid and in the context off this race doesn't looked badly treated under 2lb extra. Top part-timer Simon Walker partners Opera Prince, who after a decent try in defeat last time has a chance off the same rating. Tivers Song is consistent but races from out of the handicap while Diamond Twister couldn't be ruled out after some consistent efforts but Pennfield Pirate looks marginally the best.
