A few of these are returning to a more suitable trip after being tried at anything from the minimum distance, up to a mile. Which all makes for a more intriguing contest. Perle D'Azur and Mitsuki both come into the race with a similarly consistent record and should find the underfoot conditions much to their liking; although the latter may just strip fitter for the run. Protectorate is obviously well treated at the weights and has to be considered at this level. However, she has been slightly disappointing in her two outings this season and may need a considerable easing in the ground conditions to be seen at her best. Major Laugh may also need a little more cut in the ground, and he too has been a little short of the mark since his return. An accent on stamina seems to be the key to him and he cannot be relied upon to produce a similar performance to the one that saw him hold off Protectorate to land a valuable sales event at Newmarket last October. Impressive Flight is open to any amount of improvement after sweeping past her rivals on her debut. But this is a lot tougher and faces a stiff task in this company for one so inexperienced. Therefore Consensus may be worth siding with after she posted a very respectable effort on her reappearance at Ripon three weeks ago. She has her ideal conditions today and has only once not given a true account of herself when the saddle slipped in a nursery a York last September. She subsequently went on to land a couple of similar events and the general strength of the form just sways the opinion in her favour.
