Verdict

KING'S ICON is selected in the finale in the hope that the money arrives for him. Indy Driver and You've Been Mowed complete a short-list that could easily be doubled. Michael Wigham has been finding winners hard to come by but he has a very well handicapped horse on his hands in King's Icon who could be ready to strike having shown up quite well at Newmarket on his first start since April. Steve Drowne has a superb strike rate for the yard in recent seasons and King's Icon's turn could be near. It's not a great surprise to see Indy Driver fitted with cheekpieces as connections bid to eke out further improvement. It's debateable as to whether this drop back in trip is in his favour but he should be in the shake-up. You've Been Mowed is in the form of her life this summer so may well be up to defying her revised mark although it won't be easy to stage a repeat of her front-running tactics. West End Lad took centre stage here in May and clearly appreciates a bit of time between his races. This sort of mark has proved beyond him in the past but he has a decent strike rate for one operating in this grade. Tanforan has never been a byword for consistency and Night Knight ran no sort of race last time but Focal Eile and Count Ceprano are worth a second look if the market vibes are negative about the selection, King's Icon.
