    Verdict

An uncompetitive opener and it will be a major shock if any of the three newcomers can prevent Pearl Grey from opening her account. David Loder's well-bred daughter of Gone West, who is out of a smart Listed sprint mare, showed plenty of ability when a close third in a Goodwood maiden last month having shown plenty of pace and the step back to the minimum trip should suit ideally. James Given introduces Thadea, who is a Grand Lodge half-sister to a useful ten-furlong winner, while Nick Littmoden's Valjarv is bred to be speedy and both should be noted in the market but may have to settle for minor honours on this occasion.
