In depth

Verdict

PICTURE EDITOR has been strongly tipped for the Derby despite having only narrowly won a maiden and a three runner race at odds of 1-14. In fairness, Nathaniel, whom he beat at Doncaster, had run stablemate Frankel to half a length on debut so the form reads well enough although he has plenty to find with Measuring Time on official figures and little in hand of Shooting Gallery but both look vulnerable to a rival with potential. Buxfizz and Indigo Way have been progressing well in nurseries but there's not as much strength in depth in this race as numbers suggest and it will be hugely disappointing if Picture Editor doesn't finish his season with his reputation and unbeaten record intact.
