In depth

Verdict

Imperial Echo can spring a surprise in this race with Ice Planet and Doohulla rating the dangers. David Barron isn't a man to send his charges too far in pursuit of victory so a sortie to Newmarket is something of a surprise for Imperial Echo. He did not do a lot wrong at Haydock on his most recent start and while he has taken time to rediscover his form, he does look to have slipped to a decent mark. Fellow Northern raider Ice Planet was ultra-impressive at Doncaster. Held up for a run, he stays six well and can be thereabouts if the race works out according to Robert Winston's plan. Doohulla quickened nicely to win a recent race at Pontefract over six furlongs. This is a much stiffer assignment in terms of quality and she will need a career best to give weight and a beating to these. Mr Malarkey gave a very good account of himself over five furlongs and should not be phased by a return to six tonight. Bold Marc continues to run solidly and went well for this rider when the pair were narrowly beaten at Chester on their most recent start. Hiccups would have a chance if conquering the starting problems that have hampered his most recent runs. A fair contest which can go to lively outsider Imperial Echo.
