        Verdict

        The Hannon stable has won three of the last five so Tony Curtis has to be greatly respected after an impressive victory at Epsom. It's difficult to know what to make of Air Vice Marshall, who didn't have much to beat at Gowran but did it nicely when suggesting there's much more to come. He could be special though at this stage WAR DEPARTMENT could have his measure. William Haggas' colt was a very impressive debut winner at Leicester and was supported for the Coventry Stakes but, after missing the break, he was badly impeded and allowed to coast home. Richard Fahey won this in 2013 and Birchwood looked as though he needed this trip when only third at Naas. He had Beaverbrook behind on the same track earlier but the latter improved when fourth in the Coventry.
